Every year I go up to Estes Park with two of my best friends that I’ve known for thirty years. This year was no exception except for one bump: Colorado’s Spring Winter Storm. The weathermen said Estes was going to get twenty-four inches of snow and many of the people staying in our complex cancelled.
But we didn’t. Not the three amigos!
Yes, it snowed, but it wasn’t a disaster and in fact, it was quite beautiful. We stayed in a second story condo that looked over a creek.
We stayed inside, drank wine, played cards, and laughed, but we didn’t stay inside all weekend. We went to our favorite jewelry store: the Gold Mine and to the rock shop. It’s our tradition to get a bracelet at the rock shop to represent our trek to the mountain. This year, I bought a jasper one.
Our friendship has meant so much to me. We’ve had our highs and our lows, but we always remain friends. I feel very fortunate to have such great friends and look forward to the next 30 years and our many trips to Estes!
